Cigars with cedar outer wrappers

Q. What's up with the cedar wrapper on some cigars?  Is this just to look cool? (because it does). Protection?

A. Thanks for writing. Look cool? Yes, but not entirely. Although it does give the cigar a little more eye candy, the main reason is to protect the wrapper leaf. Secondly, it helps maintain the " bouquet" the tobaccos have acquired during the cedar aging room process.
