(Miami, FL) February 6, 2012 -- Toraño Family Cigar Co. is happy to announce Timothy Hudson as the grand prize winner of the month-long Toraño-Arrington wine fridge contest. This contest saw 25 lucky winners walk away with a Toraño branded stainless steel wine fridge and the grand prize winner being awarded a weekend trip to Nashville, Tennessee to visit Arrington Vineyards.
Timothy Hudson of Allentown, Michigan, who is an avid fan of Toraño brands, heard about the Toraño-Arrington contest and decided to make a trip with his brother to the nearest participating cigar store,Jenuwine Cigar Factory Outlet in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Hudson was originally introduced to smoking cigars while playing cards with friends. He quickly moved up to premium handmade cigars and notes that one of his favorites is the highly rated Toraño Exodus 1959. While at Jenuwine and having a smoke and sampling the Arrington Vineyards-Toraño Antebellum Private Barrel Reserve wine, Timothy entered the contest by purchasing a box of Exodus. Timothy was later excited to hear that he won the raffle for the stainless steel wine fridge and was about to get a bigger surprise after he was automatically entered to win the grand prize.

When many people think of the game of poker, especially poker games of the past, they think of men in smoke-filled rooms sitting around the table with a good drink and smoking fine cigars. For many poker players, a fine cigar is still an indulgence, but one that can no longer be enjoyed in many casinos. Let's look at a few brands that poker players commonly smoke.
Surprisingly, a brand that you will often see being smoked are Phillies Blunts cigars. This blend of mild smoking Dominican and Honduran tobaccos seem to be a big hit with the 35 to 45 year old crowd. Part of that may be due to the brand being very popular during the 80's. Many of them grew up hearing about, and maybe even sneaking a few puffs of these classic machine-made cigars from their fathers. Before you ask, "Why the hell would they smoke a cheap-ass Phillies?" consider that many times these players do not have a lot of time to enjoy a good cigar. Many times, the breaks are no longer than 10 minutes. This doesn’t leave a lot of time, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to waste, say, a Fuente Fuente OpusX. Save those for your home games or your dinner break.

Q: In your complete honest, unbiased opinion, do you believe cigars are addicting? I am 22 years old and I do not know much about cigars, but i love the feeling i get when i talk with friends sitting around a bar drinking just a small glass of scotch. I know alcohol can be addicting, but there is no nicotine, which as the media has put it, is extremely dangerous and addicting. Do you know of any cases where people get addicted to cigars and cannot stop? I have taken one puff before and I find the taste to be pleasant but I do not want to be hooked on cigars for life because they are still cancer causing substances. Are there certain cigars that have less nicotine than others? Sorry for this ridiculous question, I just want to know as much as possible before I take the first step. - Anthony G. in Japan

Appearance and feel: Very attractive; nice silky wrapper, well packed. The black and yellow "ADVISORY" band at the foot does take a little away from the appearance, but there's good reason for it. Paired with: Svedka Citron & tonic; Pepsi; Pulled pork & chicken chili Draw: Just right Pre-light flavor: Toasty Toasting & Light: Excellent (See my General Observations comments below for details) First puff: Creamy and bready. You can almost feel the thickness of the smoke on the palate. Retrohale: Smooth and woody Base flavors: Woody, earthy, well-balanced. semi-sweet, with some sweet spice. Aroma: Sweet Burn / Ash: Excellent burn. No re-touching required. Ash was quite firm and held on for just over an inch before dropping off.
