This past weekend I ventured down to the Jersey Shore to visit my parents. It was unusually hot for this time of year, which made it a beach day. So, cigars in hand, I headed for the sand.
I've written before about how cigars tend to take on a more "floral" aroma when smoked outside. I'm not sure what contributes to this, but to my nose, they sure smell different. Even with all the times I've smoked cigars on the beach, for some reason this weekend the floral aromas were not only stronger, but even the flavor of the cigars was more floral.
The cigars in question were a Rocky Patel American Market Selection Toro and a Conuco Toro. I've smoked dozens of these cigars indoors and out, and enjoyed them both. But when compared to smoking them on the beach, they took on a whole new dimension. Maybe it was the salty air? The time of year? The tobaccos used in the cigars? Whatever it was, it was certainly not a negative experience. Frankly, I found it quite fascinating.
What I'm looking for is a little help. Am I imagining all this, or have you had a similar experience when smoking cigars outside, or more specifically, smoking them outside in a particular locale like the beach?
