Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love my new Tupperdor
I always thought I'd have enough storage room for my cigars. Well, such was not the case about a month ago when, due to Famous Smoke Shop's upcoming move, I had to take my private stash cigars out of the warehouse. I had a number of boxes, some full, some partially full, but I knew all of the cigars would never fit in my home humidors. What to do...what to do.
I didn't feel like buying another humidor, then go through the entire process of setting it up. Then it hit me...a "Tupperdor!" Since all of the cigars were still in their factory boxes it was a natural solution. Next stop, "Wally World."
I looked at the coolers first, but they were either too small or too expensive. I finally decided on a Rubbermaid storage tub, which only cost me about $18. Next, I needed a humidifier that would handle a container that size, so I picked-up a
Xikar 250 ct. crystal humidifier on sale for about $20. Finally, a bottle of steam distilled water, about 79¢ at the local supermarket. Finally, I found an old digital
hygrometer which is off by 12% (when it reads 63% it's really 75%), and placed it under the top. Total expenditure with sales tax, around $40. The results?
Priceless. It's been keeping my
cigars in perfect condition ever since.
