Kristoff Ligero Maduro ToroCountry of Origin: Dom. Rep.
Size: 5½" x 54
Strength: Full
Wrapper: Brazilian Maduro
Filler: Dominican & Nicaraguan
Cuban seed Binder: Dominican Cuban Seed
Presentation: Box of 20
cigarsLocation: My car
Appearance and feel: Nice, oily-looking, evenly-toned wrapper. Well packed. Finished with a pigtail
cap and a semi-bushy
foot (tucked under).
Paired with: Water and Starbuck's Mocha Frappaccino
Draw: Perfect
Pre-light flavor: Woody, nutty
Toasting & Light: Peeled-off the shaggy tobacco at foot, toasted up nicely and lit well.
First puff: Creamy with a sweet woody flavor.
Retrohale: Smooth, lightly peppery, not sharp.
Base flavors: Wood, sweet tobacco, hint of nutmeg
Aroma: Sweet
Burn / Ash: Needed a slight touch-up in the first half-inch. (Apparently, I hadn't lit it all up. After that, it burned perfectly with a very firm and fine grey ash.
General Observations: Extremely consistent. The smoke was particularly thick, creamy, very smooth, and well-balanced. Though it's labeled "full-bodied," I found it more medium-to-full; medium in the first half, full in the second. Flavors of sweet tobacco,
cedar and nutmeg prevailed, while during the second half, the smoke revealed flavors of cocoa and espresso. I let the cigar rest longer during the second half. Smoke never turned bitter and burned perfectly to the nub. Never needed a relight.
Summary: As I continue to smoke thruogh their selections, the Kristoff brand is becoming one of my favorites. I don't think I've smoked one yet that I didn't like. The construction is excellent, the pigtail perfectly coiled, plus, I really enjoyed the combination of flavors. There was nothing negative about this cigar. The only problem I had was taking a photo of myself smoking it because I was driving. If you like full-flavored Maduros, add this cigar to your wish list.
