Now THIS is a cigar of the week! Rated "96" by Famous Smoke Shop customers (and not surprisingly either), the Oliva Serie V "Ligero Especiale" Torpedo is, in a word, exquisite. I'm not much of a Torpedo smoker, but this cigar is one of my few exceptions. The blend is composed of all Nicaraguan-grown tobaccos, including a flawless Habano wrapper leaf.
What's most impressive about this cigar, as well as the other cigars in the line is, the smoke is so smooth and well balanced you really don't feel the potency of this cigar as you would with many full-bodied cigars that have an ample amount of Ligero. Oh, you may get a nice shot of peppery spice in the early puffs, but give it about half an inch and it's smooth sailin' all the way.
As the cigar enters the second act, you may also pick up flavors of hazelnut, nutmeg, espresso toffee and dark chocolate; talk about a complex cigar. By the third act, the smoke is still quite smooth, yet the flavors are more intense. It's even able to withstand several relights, if necessary. Moreover, the tapered
head concentrates the flavors even further for a long
finish.
The Oliva Serie V selection is also one of the few cigars that has acquired such a sterling reputation, I've seen many a cigar smoker jump at the chance to get one in their hands, including, in once instance, trading an OpusX for one.
If you smoke cigars like the Padron Serie 1926, Liga Privada T-52, or 601 Oscuro, this cigar is right up there with them - maybe even a bit beyond. I would also suggest buying them by the box. This is one cigar you will want to have around in quantity.
